5th Grade Patriots Day
On Friday, October 19, 2018, the 5th grade students will be celebrating a wonderful learning opportunity called Patriots Day. The students will learn what life was like in the colonies for those who founded this great nation of ours. Their day will be filled with music, crafts, games, education, and songs that our forefathers experienced during their time.
We encourage the students and parent volunteers to come in costume, as this will help create the “feel” of being transported back in time. To help with costumes, we have tricorn hats for the boys and bonnets for the girls to wear that day. Each student will be bringing home a form with ideas on how to adapt street clothes to look like colonial dress.
To make this event a success, we will need volunteers to help out. If you are able to help, please contact the Patriots Day Chair at firstname.lastname@example.org or fill out the following form and send back to your child’s teacher.
I am able to help with the following for Patriots Day on Friday, October 19:
_______ I am able to volunteer on October 19
_______ I will cook selected desserts to share (we will provide recipes)
_______ I have a tea set to lend for the day (for learning tea etiquette)
