Classroom Guidance Lessons
Each 9 weeks I teach a lesson based on our "Great 8 Skills" curriculum that was established by our Humble ISD Counseling and Behavioral Services. Lessons are provided in the students' classroom. Each school year we focus on 4 of the 8 skills. For the 2022-2023 school year, students will learn about DECISION MAKING, PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY, SELF AWARENESS, AND SOCIAL AWARENESS.
Personalized Counseling
This year I will continue to meet with EVERY student on campus one on one. During my time with your child, we will talk about their strengths and weaknesses, what hobbies they enjoy doing, what goals they have for themselves, and who they feel they can talk to when they have a problem.
Individual Counseling
Throughout the school day, students may have concerns that interfere with their success in the classroom. Staff members and parents can request their child to meet with me during the school day. My goal during my meeting with your child is to provide them with a safe space to discuss their feelings and develop strategies to help them work through those feelings.
Small Group Counseling
Each semester, I offer small group counseling to students based on recommendations from staff members and parents. Small group counseling helps students overcome issues that may impede achievement or success. Small group counseling includes topics such as anger management, anxiety, social skills, friendships, test anxiety, and social skills. All requests must be submitted to the counselor in writing, and a parent consent form will be required for participation.
Community Support
Referrals to community services can be provided to support our students and families with mental, physical, and financial needs.
Facilitate PBIS on Campus
PBIS (Positive Behavior Incentive Supports) is a proactive approach that counselors use to improve school safety and promote positive behavior. Our ultimate goal is to teach students positive behavior strategies while also providing incentives for students to make good choices.
