Welcome to the library! While you're here, we will explore books, research, storytelling, building, engineering, designing, and creating. I love the interdisciplinary aspect of libraries and makerspaces. I think books and stories can expand a child's world and imagination. I hope to foster a love of books in Timbers' students. Also, I am a maker by hobby; so I hope sharing my passion with the students will help inspire them to move out of their comfort zone to make and try something new.
This year will be my seventh year at Timbers, but my first in the library. I have an interdisciplinary background. I earned a BA in English and Art History from Southwestern University and a MA in Art History from the University of Georgia. While I love the arts and humanities, I also have a keen curiousity for how things work and problem solving. This has served me well for the last five years as a fifth grade math and science teacher. I am excited to bring the best of both worlds to the library with an added focus on educational technology, blended learning, and student led inquiry. I look forward to working with all of the students at Timbers Elementary!
