About Your Librarian
Hello Lakeland Family! I am thrilled to be a part of the team. I wanted to tell you just a bit about myself as we begin this journey together.
I am originally from Detroit, MI. I moved to Texas in the summer of 2014 right here in Humble. I obtained my Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education from Fayetteville State University in North Carolina. I then obtained a Master’s degree in educational leadership from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. After working a few years as a second, third and fifth grade teacher in Detroit, my husband and I along with our two children decided to relocate to Texas. During my first year teaching here, I decided to obtain my librarian certification from Texas Woman’s University and I couldn’t be happier!
I’m going into my sixth year as a school librarian and my ninth year as an educator. My “babies” are also a part of the Humble ISD family and we couldn’t feel any more at home if we tried. There are great things happening right here in our community. We are all growing and learning as students and teachers.
Reading has always been a sincere passion of mine. It was and is an escape from my day to day reality. I can literally “go” wherever the pages take me. One of my many goals is to instill that same love of literature into our students. Reading can be fun! I’ll show you… =)
Our world has been extremely eventful recently (to say the least) but I am hopeful that this year we will continue to remain safe, happy, and healthy (all with a good book in hand)!
Here's to Reading!
Mrs. Williams, M.Ed.
