Week of May 11th-15th:
We hope you are all doing well and staying safe, busy and happy!
New announcement:   We have bagged up a few items that the students have left in the band hall and would like to return them to the students.   We will send out an email tomorrow to those individual families that we have items for, as well as pickup dates, times and procedures.
    Just a few reminders:
#1- The Band Evaluation video from each student 6th-8th grade should be sent by the end of the day on Friday, May 15th.
#2-Parents of Students who are returning a School Owned Instrument should be emailing me to let me know if they are returning the instrument either on Monday (May 18th) from noon to 3pm or on Tuesday (May 19th).   I will send out a map of the return area very soon.
If students are keeping the school owned instrument, parents should be sending me a picture of the serial number on the instrument and the serial number on the case.
***Thank you to the 90% who have already done this!***

    Week of 4/06 - 4/10:

My sincere apologies but the first link that I sent out never registered the responses for the Recruitment Letter. We are not sure why this happened.

Please, please forgive Mr. Wootton and go back in and resubmit your Recruitment letter again.
The link below is different and looks to be working.   Let's extend the due date to Friday, April 10th.

    Thank you for your patience!
    Mr. W

    Hello TMS Band Members!
You are now on the band recruitment team!
For 6th grade:  Write a 1-2 paragraph letter to a 5th grader explaining why they should join band,  what instrument you play, and what you have learned and enjoyed about this year?

For 7th and 8th graders:  Write a 1-2 paragraph letter to the Beginning Band members on what differences you noticed going from Beginner Band to Symphonic, Concert or Wind Ensemble.  Include your thoughts on why they should continue in band, what you enjoyed about band, and what they need to do to be successful.

Here is the ***NEW*** link to the Google Sheet to complete your
letter. Please try to complete this by Friday, April 10th. Let us know if you are having trouble.

If you have any questions...feel free to email us at mark.wootton@humbleisd.net or Danielle.dewees@humbleisd.net

***You must use the following link to inform the retrieval team in order to obtain your instrument. ***
Please fill it out with as much detail as possible, as it will be an administrator, not the band directors, that will be getting your instrument and binder. Musical Enrichment:
If your student has their instrument, please get them to play it often. Mrs. Dewees has procured all band students a free subscription to Smart Music!! Go to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H_lRZBSo_zU to see what it is all about. There are over 20,000 pieces of music that your student can access (our method book is on there also). They'll never run out of something to practice! Is your kid bored at home? Driving you crazy?!  Please PLEASE take advantage of this free subscription. A year subscription is usually not free. Below is how to access Smart Music:

In order to use the software, you need to create a SmartMusic account and join the class using this code: JUWCD-JLZUU.

    1. Open a Chrome browser and visit: https://admin.smartmusic.com/join
    2. When prompted for a class code, please enter: JUWCD-JLZUU
Thank you for your understanding and flexibility as we learn how to teach a musical class on a digital platform.
