    My name is Lindy Protasi and I am the Licensed Specialist in School Psychology for Kingwood High School. I am at KHS five days per week. The three main components of my job are assessment, counseling as a related service, and consultation. Assessment includes all evaluations related to Special Education initial eligibility, reevaluations (which are required at least every three years), and stand alone behavior evaluations. Counseling as a related service is provided to students whose assessment indicates they may require additional support in order to fully access and benefit from their educational environment. Counseling as a related service is very different from counseling/therapy provided outside of the school setting. The goal of counseling as related service is always related to the student's educational environment and increasing their access and/or success in that environment. Finally, consultation includes working with any and all staff to problem solve for students who may be demonstrating behaviors or other difficulties in the classroom. Consultation does not typically include direct involvement with the student, but indirectly supporting them via work with the teachers through brainstorming, creating interventions, reviewing data, and adjusting implementation as needed. 

    I completed my undergraduate degree in Psychology at Northwestern State University, where I also played soccer. I then attended Texas State University and completed my Specialist in School Psychology degree. After completing all of my coursework and internship, I passed the Praxis assessment required for licensure. 

    I have been in Humble ISD for six years and love the community and family feeling that is inherent in Humble ISD culture. It is great to work with a community of educators who are always student-first in everything we do! 

    I am always available to answer questions or address concerns you may be having for you student, especially if they are receiving Special Education services. 

    If your student is not currently receiving Special Education services, but you believe they may meet eligibility criteria, please reach out to their counselor- who will then communicate with me and the Special Education staff.
