Hi everyone! I hope my WMS students and family are doing well.

  • First off, I know a lot of this can be overwhelming so I created a simple list.

1 - Fill out the survey that applies to you: (if you have me twice please fill out both)

    Art Class Survey

    Graphic Design Technology Survey

2 - Join Google Classroom - this is where all assignements will be after this week. Codes are posted below.

    Graphic Design Students:

I created a google form for you to fill out to see what technology you have access to.  I will use this information for creating lessons in the next few weeks. Graphic Design Technology Survey

    Art Students:

I created assignments that only require pencil, paper and internet.  Any kind of pencil and paper will be fine.  I understand that many of you do not have any other art supplies at home.  I have created a quick google form so that I can get an idea what kind of supplies you may have around the house.  Please take a minute and fill it out: Art Supplies Survey .  I will use this information to help guide the lesson I create in the coming weeks.

Students needing help: If you need help with any of your assignments below, please email me at toni.goss@humbleisd.net and we can find a time to meet on our Google Classroom site.  Also you can post your work to the site and ask a question and will respond to just you.

Note to students that have Art Supplies at Home:  If you have other Art supplies at home and want to use them - PLEASE DO!!  You can use them on the assignments that I have listed OR you can email me (toni.goss@humbleisd.net) if you wish to work on your own assignment.

If you want to work on your own work - just let me know:

    •  what it is you want to work on
    •  what media you will be using.

Be sure to take pictures of the work process and send me updates.

Assignments for the week of March 23rd:

    Beginning Art -1st, 2nd, and 3rd period:

Lesson 1 -  Watch the video below and draw along.  He is breaking down the objects that he sees into simple shapes and not drawing them outright.  Notice that he doesn't draw the outline of the complete bird. He uses shapes like a triangle and an oval to fill out the shape before adding details.

Lesson 2 -   Find an object at home that you wish to draw.  Using what we learned in the previous lesson  I want you to try to break it down into simple shapes to get the outline then go back and add the details.  When you turn this assignment in I want you to turn in 2 things.

    1.  a photo of your object
    2. the drawing you created

Remember take your time and we are practicing a technique.  Be kind to yourself and remember craftsmanship.

    Graphic Design  - 4th and 5th period

    Lesson 1-

Have you ever seen a custom license plate?  You have a limited space of how many character, letters and numbers, that you can use to create a word or even a phrase.  There was even an artist that created this piece.

    License Plate Art

Did you read it? What the license plate have written on them is the Preamble to the US Constitution.  They used letters and numbers to create the sound of the words that they wanted.

Take a piece of paper and plan out what you want your License plate to say.   You only have 7 spaces for you to use words or letters. After you have your word or phrase design the background.  Every state has a different looking plate. Create one that is uniquely you.

What needs to be on you License Plate:

    • Use only Letters and Numbers.
    • 7 spaces for characters(it can be all letters and all numbers if you choose)
    • A design on the background

    Example:

    plate

Remember:  Craftsmanship is extremely important.  Try your best and create away.

    Lesson 2 -

We are going to be flexing our imagination and creativity in this animation activity.  We are going to take 2 animated characters and mash them together to create something entirely new.   You can look up reference pictures for this and use them.  Watch the video below and then follow the instructions.

    Remember: Craftsmanship!

See if you can find them.
