• VIPS Conference 2019

    Come on out and build your volunteer resources kit! The conference will offer workshops on Executive Board positions, fundraising, event planning, organizing a procedure book, and other topics to help parent groups succeed.

  • Some of the workshops available:

    • President and Vice President - Teach the leadership skills needed to build a team, and have a successful
      year as a board president.

    • Secretary – Ever wondered what should be written in the minutes? Have you heard the phrase, “this is
      off the record’? This session will teach how to keep accurate minutes of meeting without writing a

    • Treasurer – Learn how to establish internal controls, cash flow, and implement checks and balances.

    • Membership – Build up your membership with community members, businesses, and incentives to
      make parents want to join.

    • How to Run a Meeting: The “Ayes” have it. Motion carried. Have you ever wondered what all this
      means? Come and learn the eight steps needed for a motion and other parliamentarian guidelines.

    • Social Media – Lori Maugans with Public Communications will share her best tips for promoting
      activities and events.

    • Marketing Your Parent Group – Helpful marketing tips to build your presence in the community.

    • Risk Management – Patty Epps with Risk Management will present creative ideas to host a safe and fun
      carnival or school event.

    • Conflict Resolution/ Management – How to avoid escalation before the situation gets heated.

    • Sales Tax 101 – Come and visit with a representative from the State Comptroller’s office to learn how to
      make filing taxes easier.

    • Grant Writing 101 – Learn the ins and outs of writing a successful grant for your parent group.

    • Healthy Lifestyles – Rebecca Chavez with Camp Gladiator will present healthy and active exercises and
      events for parent education programs.

    • Resources for Special Events- Learn where you can find donations from sports associations, museums,
      zoos, and other organizations.

    • Networking within Humble ISD-Come and connect with the organizations in our community.
