Community Input Meeting for Elementary #29

  • Parents and the public invited to a Community Input Meeting August 15 regarding attendance zones for Elementary #29

Humble ISD is building a new elementary school to accommodate student enrollment growth in the southeastern region of the district. Elementary School #29, which has not yet been named, is scheduled to open in August 2020. It is being built in the Lakewood Pines subdivision. Alison Pierce, former Timbers Elementary principal, has been appointed principal of the new school.

The district invites parents and the public to a Community Input Meeting regarding the establishment of an attendance zone for this new school. The Community Input Meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 15, in the Summer Creek High School Performing Arts Center, 14000 Weckford Blvd.

At this meeting, options being considered by the School Attendance Area Committee will be presented.

The new school is anticipated to serve some students who currently attend Lakeshore and Summerwood elementary schools. Additionally, Humble ISD is considering the inclusion of a flex zone option that could be available by choice to families zoned to Groves and Ridge Creek elementary schools.

The School Attendance Area Committee is continuing to work on attendance zone options. Gathering input at the Community Input Meeting is an important step in the process. Following the meeting, the district will also collect input online from August 16-30. An attendance area for the new school is expected to be established this fall and would take effect in August 2020.
