West Lake Middle School Wetlands Watchers
Our club is involved with the Galveston Bay Foundation to teach students about the ecology of Galveston Bay. We harvest cord grass in the Fall, take care of the plants all year at school as they multiply, and then transplant them in the Bay in the Spring. This is a great club for students interested in ecology, biology, and marine science. Besides these 2 trips through the Foundation we also plan to take a trip to the Houston Zoo this year since last Spring they opened a new Wetlands exhibit.
To join our club go to Club Application. All applications are due by August 23rd. There is a $30 fee that covers the cost of a t-shirt and the 3 field trips. The fee can be cash or check and delivered to Ms. Close (B117) or Mrs. Badeaux (D121). Our first meeting is on September 5th in the LGI from 4-5pm.
In order to attend the field trips, the fee and application must be turned in, the student must attend all meetings, and grades and behavior must be in good standing. Students who are failing will not be able to go on the field trips.
