My name is Eromi Fernando and I am delighted to be your child's 3rd grade English Language Arts and Social Studies teacher. I am truly passionate about education and it is my goal to create a learning environment that will engage students, and encourage innovation and creativity.
Here’s just a little bit about myself... I was born and raised in Sri Lanka, a small Island in Southeast Asia. After meeting my husband, I moved to America and made it my home. My husband and I lived in New Jersey for about 10 years. During this time, I attended Kean University, where I earned my bachelor’s and master’s degree in Behavioral Science. Upon completion of my graduate studies, I worked for the New Jersey Consortium for Middle Schools. I thoroughly enjoyed being a part of a team that trained and prepared educators to integrate technology into classrooms. Furthermore, I conducted academic research and taught Speech at Kean University.
My husband and I moved to Houston in 2007. Shortly after that, we had our first baby girl, Nirasha, and our second baby, Ayanna, joined our family in 2012. Nirasha is 11 now and will be entering middle school this year (I am still in denial). Ayanna is 7 and will be a second grader at Fall Creek Elementary. I stayed home with my girls and loved every minute of it. However, once both my girls were in school, I knew it was time for the next chapter of my life. I am so honored and beyond excited to start this new chapter at Fall Creek Elementary.
