The name of the new school is Autumn Creek Elementary.

The new school is designed to relieve overcrowding. It is the district's goal to establish boundaries for the new campus during the 2020-2021 school year so that they are in place a year prior to the school's opening.

Humble ISD provides bus transportation to students who live more than two miles away or who must cross a hazardous thoroughfare.

When new schools open to relieve overcrowding, some existing teachers follow their students to the new school.

Participants in the parent survey received a unique link to respond to their parent input survey. 22% prefered the grade level structure to be one elementary school for grades K-2, and another elementary school for grades 3-5. 78% prefered the grade level structure to be two elementary schools, each with serving grades k-5.

The district also posted an online form on the Fall Creek Elementary School campus website for community members to provide input. There were 136 comments. Of the 136 comments, 106 indicated a preference for a specific grade-level structure. 17% expressed a preference for a K-2 campus and a Grades 3-5 campus. 83% expressed a preference for two campuses Grades K-5.

It takes no less than 16 months to construct an elementary school after the district has signed a contract with a general contractor and there are permitted drawings. The steps in building Autumn Creek Elementary and projected timeline would be:

• Permitting and Bidding (November 2019 - March 2020)
• Construction (March 2020 - July 2021)
• Open August 2021
