    What is Geocaching?

Geocaching is a real-world, outdoor adventure that is happening all the time, all around the world. To play, participants use the Geocaching app and/or a GPS device to navigate to cleverly hidden containers called geocaches. There are millions of geocaches in 190 countries waiting to be discovered—there are probably even some near you right now. #1

Geocaching offers something for everyone, from families with children to retirees. Some geocachers play the game to see how many total “finds” they can get, while others play to see how many new states or countries they can visit. Geocaching is a great way to find remarkable destinations that you would not have otherwise discovered. It is also an excellent educational tool and an excuse to get off the couch. #1

    Will I need anything?

We have all the tools that you will need for this club. Whether we meet on-site or off-site it is advised that you provide your own snack pack or water bottle with the fluid of your choice. We will provide all other required tools. You may, of course, bring your own smartphone or GPS device if you would like.

    What will this club entail?

We will meet twice a month as follows:

The first monthly meeting will be a weekday after school with kids. This meeting will be held from 4-5p.m. Parents are encouraged to join the weekday meetings. If you do not join your child for this meeting then please have your child picked up by 5 pm.

The 2nd monthly meeting will be on a Saturday (weather permitting) off-site at an announced location. Transportation to this site will not be provided by the school, school district, or the sponsoring teacher. Parent participation is required for all off-site meetings and activities. The off-site monthly information will be announced and communicated to parents during and immediately after the first monthly meeting. These off-site meeting days will last for a minimum of two hours and a maximum of 4 hours.

    Who can join?

Enrollment in this club will be limited to the first 20 families to sign up and provide a signed liability waiver for each member that will take part in the activities. If we have more than 20 families then some may be asked to download an app (free) and use their smartphone with GPS service in order to participate.

     Did you say a Waiver?

Yes, a signed liability waiver will be required to participate in this club. Geocaching is an outdoor activity that takes place in many settings.
