My name is Wendy Nash, and I am proud to be a Lakeland Wildcat! This year, I will be teaching 3rd Grade Reading, Writing and Social Studies. I am new to Humble ISD, but this is my 14th year in education. I taught pre-school and kindergarten, and was a Curriculum Director at a private school. I began my career in public school education as a fourth grade teacher, and then later became a Master Teacher and an Instructional Coach. For the past two summers, I have had the pleasure of being a Texas Education Agency (TEA) Reading Academy Presenter. I am a lifelong learner, and have spent the last five years pursuing my Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Administration. My research is titled, Supporting New Teachers Through Mentoring: A Study of Teacher Perceptions.
In addition to being a teacher and a student, I am also a wife and mom! I have been married to my husband, Mark for 23 years. We have a 21 year-old son, Mark Jr. at Texas A&M University. He is a Renewable Natural Resources Major graduating in the class of 2020. Blake, our early-college high school senior has recently received college offers from several universities, and we are anxiously waiting for him to make a decision on where he will be moving this summer. Our youngest two children, Michael and Ashlynn are in eighth and sixth grades (respectively). They are both active in band and competitive dance. When we aren't busy with activities, we enjoy going to the beach together.
In our classroom, students are valued and respected. We work together to create a safe, organized, and efficient learning environment. As we grow together this year, establishing strong connections to each other and our classroom community will be essential to our success. We will work hard to meet high expectations for both behavior and academics, but we will support each other so that we can be successful together. I believe that the parent-teacher partnership is crucial to the success of our children, and look forward to working with you this year! Please contact me by email, Class Dojo, or phone if you have any questions or concerns. Together we are better able to meet the needs and goals of your child.
I look forward to our year together!
