• Q&A about Humble ISD’s new volunteer management process:

Question: Why do I need to complete an application to volunteer?
Answer: There are multiple reasons why Humble ISD is utilizing Raptor’s volunteer management module to process volunteers. The most important reason is to ensure the safety of all on campuses by knowing who is volunteering. Second, volunteers will be able to track their hours by checking in as a volunteer at the front desk of a campus or by logging into their portal account. Third, the old system of conducting background checks on paper was time-consuming for both volunteers and campus staff. This integrated online system is more efficient.

Question: I volunteer for my child’s school PTA, PTO or booster club. Do I still need to complete a volunteer application?
Answer: Yes, for a couple of reasons. First, if these volunteer activities occur on a school campus, then you would need to be checked in as a volunteer. Second, even if you volunteer after school hours or on the weekend, you will be able to track your volunteers hours through your volunteer portal account. Tracking these hours is important to your parent group and to Humble ISD. These hours are reported to several organizations, including some that offer financial incentives based on volunteer activity.

If your parent group utilized Membership Toolkit to track volunteers, we still ask that you complete Humble ISD’s volunteer application. Humble ISD is not able to access volunteer information from Membership Toolkit.

Question: How often do I have to fill out this application?
Answer: You will be asked to complete this application at the beginning of each school year. You will receive an email notification 30 days before your application expires.

Question: What is the difference between visiting a school and volunteering at a school?
Answer: If you are given any level of responsibility at the school such as copying, shelving books, assisting in the classroom, you are a volunteer. Activities such as having lunch with your child, attending a parent teacher meeting or dropping off items for your child would fall under the role of a visitor.

Question: What if I don’t have an email address or access to a computer? Can I still volunteer?
Answer: Yes! If you need access to a computer, you can come to the Humble ISD Administration Building (10203 Birchridge Drive, Humble) to utilize one of our computers to complete your application. If you do not have an email address, you may still complete the application and enter your cell phone number if your provider supports SMS messaging. If you don’t have a cell phone, you can enter the email address volunteer@humbleisd.net and we will call you with information about your application status.

Question:  I completed the application, but forgot to check a certain function (such as Junior Achievement).  How can I add that to my profile?
Answer:  Unfortunately, you can not add it to your profile through Raptor. However, we can!  Just email Marilyn.Mann@humbleisd.net and tell her your name and what additional functions you would like added to your profile.
