Harvey Heroes: The Lake Houston Watershed Project Based Learning Initiative

    DRIVING QUESTION: How can we, as Humble ISD Teachers, help our students learn about, restore and protect the Lake Houston Watershed using Project Based Learning?

    PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Humble ISD Science teachers will develop PBLs linked to the Lake Houston Watershed and our community’s recovery and response to Hurricane Harvey Flooding.  Teachers meet three times during the fall semester to collaborate and learn about PBL. Opportunities for vertical and horizontal teams to coordinate PBLs are available. A centralized district “toolbox” that includes a clearinghouse of resources, links, and project descriptions will be created and available to any teacher in the district. Face-to-face meetings, skype meetings, Twitter chats and other contact with local authorities, chamber of commerce, scientists, community members, and county/city officials will be coordinated and available to teachers and students during the project timeline.
