Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS)
-
Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) is a retirement pension plan. District employees that work half-time or more in regularly scheduled positions are automatically enrolled in TRS. Humble ISD is required to withhold and submit your monthly member contribution (8% of your eligible salary on a pre-tax basis) to TRS.
TRS is a defined benefit plan which means your monthly benefit during retirement is “defined” by a formula; it is not limited to the amount of your accumulated contributions in your TRS member account. The basic formula, which varies slightly for different member tiers, is:
Years of Service x 2.3% x Average 3/5 highest salary
-
To see your balance and years of service, login to your MyTRS account. TRS Member Services: 1-800-223-8778 Mon - Fri, 7am - 6pm.
*Humble ISD submits monthly member contributions for the previous month by the 6th of the current month. Humble ISD processes TRS termination inquires relating to TRS Form 6 on a weekly basis.
