Our first grade teachers would like to provide our students with new chicken incubators and egg turners to help them learn about the life cycle. What better way for them to experience the life cycle than by having hands on experiences. The students will use the egg incubator to learn first hand about the life cycle of a chicken. We will begin with fertilized eggs and end with baby chicks. During the incubation process, students will use the egg candler to track the growth of fertilized eggs. Students will chart their observations and keep a detailed notebook to help them remember the specific details of the life cycle that they observe each day. Once the chicks arrive the kids will learn to care for them until we take them to a farm.
