WELCOME TO 1ST GRADE! My name is Karen Nerio and I am so glad you are in my class this year. 

I am originally from El Salvador but was raised in the city of Katy, TX. After graduating high school, I decided to stay local and attend Cy-Fair college (now Lone-Star College). I spent 2 years there before taking a detour for 2 years to obtain a technical music degree in singing from a faith based, internationally recognized music school. My role as a student there led me to teach, and after some time, direct the children's program where I worked primarily with elementary age students for a total of 9 years. During that time, I completed my Bachelor's degree in Teaching and Learning from the University of Houston. 

My teaching career as a 1st grade teacher started in Katy ISD and continues now in Humble ISD at Groves Elementary. Every year at Groves has been better than the last! From opening the school in 2017 teaching General Education, to becoming one of the Spanish Immersion teachers on our campus! Let the adventure continue!
