About Mrs. Nicholas
I am a graduate of the University of Houston, Bates College of Law, where I earned a Juris Doctor degree. After ten years, I retired from practicing law to raise my children, and eventually pursued my alternative teaching certificate so that my schedule could mirror that of my daughters. Those daughters are now grown. My eldest is teaching anthropology at the University of Houston, and my youngest is working in HumbleISD in the MOSAIC program. I have been teaching for 17 years now, having taught fifth grade, second grade, and, currently, fourth grade. (I also taught science lab in a former lifetime.)
When I am not teaching, I am pursuing a bunch of hobbies. I love photography, writing, arts & crafts, and reading - especially nonfiction. I also love traveling, camping, hiking and kayaking. My latest hobby has included designing and building furniture. I own a vacation rental cabin in the Smokies, and love decorating and promoting it to my guests. I believe that having a variety of hobbies and interests allows me to bring more into the classroom when I teach.
