Clinic Guidelines

  • Please help maintain a healthy school envrionment by following the recommendations listed below.

    Children should be kept home from school for the following reasons: 

    • Has had a temperature of 100.0 degrees or more in the last 24 hours
    • Has had any vomiting the night before or the morning of school
    • Has had diarrhea (more than twice) the night before or the morning of school
    • Has a persistant or productive cough
    • Has a continually runny nose with white, green, or yellow mucus
    • Has an eye/eyes that appear red, itchy, and crusty
    • Has a rash of unkown cause anywhere on the body 

    Services provided by the nurse are:

    • First Aid
    • Assessment of illnesses
    • Monitoring sick students until they are well enough to return to class or released to their parent/guardian
    • Administration of prescription or over-the-counter medication as per Medication policy*
    • Creating and implementating plans of care for students with chronic illnessnes 
    • Vision, hearing, and scoliosis screenings
    • Evaluation of immunization status based on Texas law
    • Communication and collaboration with parents, teachers, and administraion on the health needs of the student
    • Prevention and early recognition of communicable diseases
    • Refferals and follow ups for students who have been identified as needed
