Mr. Gaston Woodland Jr.

    My name is Gaston Woodland Jr. This is my 6 th year teaching middle school. Currently, I am pursuing a doctoral degree in Leadership, Innovation, and Continuous Change. I have a Masters in Curriculum Instruction, and a Master’s in Urban Education.  I am fairly new to Houston. My family and I moved here from Kansas City last summer. 

     

    I love to read books in my free time. Also, I enjoy playing chess. In addition, I am a lover of all types of  music, specifically rap. 

     

    Growing up I was a struggling reader. Frankly, I was a “get by” student.  I had some life circumstances with my family I had to overcome as well. I am a passionate teacher that believes in students. Famous writer Robin Sharma stated, “ No kid is unsmart. Every kid's a genius at something. Our job is to find it. And then encourage it.” I teach with love and accountability. Education is something that I love being a part of because it is truly remarkable seeing children learn and grow.
