Humble ISD is "Going Green"

Paperless Flyers

For many years, Humble ISD has supported community non-profit organizations and other groups – and provided information to parents regarding youth leagues, scouts and other opportunities for our students – by sending home flyers in student take-home folders and backpacks. This year we are changing this practice, while still providing this support and information.

Instead of sending these flyers home with students, we are posting them on the Humble ISD website.

This change will accomplish a couple of significant positives:

a. By "Going Green" Humble ISD will be saving millions of paper copies, which – even though they are paid for by the non-profit organizations – usually end up in a landfill somewhere (more than 2.7 million pages last year)!

b. Campus volunteers (and teachers) can devote the time that they once spent stuffing these items into folders to other tasks that provide more educational benefit!

c. Items sent home to parents in take-home folders and backpacks will be about student progress and other school-related issues!

d. Our community non-profits and other groups will save on printing and delivery costs, allowing them to funnel more funds back into their youth programs!

Flyers for various organizations and groups are posted on the Humble ISD website at the link provided below. The flyers will be posted on the 1st and 15th of each month and will be categorized by grade levels and schools. Discount offering flyers for Humble ISD employees will continue to be posted on the "intranet".
