FACILITIES
Within the division of Support Services, the departments of Maintenance and Operations, as well as Facilities, Planning and Construction, are responsible for existing and proposed facilities in Humble ISD.
 
The Maintenance and Operations Department supports and aligns their goals with the District's mission through good stewardship of district funds and by providing services that support learning. Studies show that providing safe, well maintained facilities improves student scores and attendance.

The Humble ISD Maintenance & Operations Department is operating efficiently (below the median range) as compared to other school districts included in the 2010-11 Texas Maintenance and Operations Benchmark Study. Median Operations Cost: $1.33 per sq. ft; Humble ISD: $1.16 per sq. ft.
The number of average square feet maintained per maintenance employee in Texas school districts is approx. 70,000. Humble ISD maintains 120,000 square feet per maintanance employee
The average area cleaned per custodian in Texas schools is 22,000 square feet. Humble ISD custodians clean 29,000 square feet.
Humble ISD is among the lowest cost districts on water, sewage, and solid waste expense, at $.15 per square foot.
 Since 1971, when Humble ISD had just a few more than 2,000 students, the district has grown to a student population of about 37,000 in 2012.
  • The District has constructed twelve new schools in recent years, funded through three bond elections in 2002, 2005 and 2008 that totaled more than $800 million.
  • Facility components of the 2008 bond included the construction of two elementary schools, one middle school and funds allocated for land purchases.
  • Bond funds are also used for renovation projects throughout the district, as well as life cycle replacements for carpet, paint, mechanical and electrical equipment, technology and school buses.
The Humble ISD Maintenance and Operations
Department provides maintenance, custodial, grounds and energy management services for 49 schools and support facilities totaling in excess of 6,000,000 square feet and 823.45 acres of grounds.
