Campus Instructional Technology Academy

Purpose:
The Campus Instructional Technology Academy is designed to prepare campus representatives to create a supportive environment for student use of technology to enhance learning.

Audience:
The intended audience is any teacher, instructional coach, or media specialist that is interested in developing a working knowledge of technology tools and integration strategies for creating a student-centered, technology-rich classroom.

Overview:
This year’s academy will consist of two face-to-face meetings at the beginning and end of the year, with monthly “virtual” meetings in between using Edmodo for asynchronous and Skype and/or Google Apps for Education for synchronous sessions. 

Participants will be expected to implement Edmodo, Google Apps, and other technologies discussed in the academy with their classes, demonstrating that the participant has gained a working knowledge of the instructional technologies and integration strategies. 
In addition, participants will be required to conference with an IT Specialist, and conduct a training session for their campus. Participants will also be required to give a brief presentation on the last night of the Academy explaining how they used the technologies in their classroom.

The initial face-to-face session will be held Wednesday, November 7th from 4:30-6:30 p.m. and the final session will be Tuesday, May 14th from 4:30-6:30 p.m.  Both face-to-face sessions will be held at the Instructional Support Center, 4810 Magnolia Cove, Kingwood TX 77345. 

Each participant will receive 4 hours of CPU credit for the face-to-face sessions In addition, participants will earn 36 hours of CPU credit for the required reading, virtual meetings, required posting, planning, classroom implementation and presentation development.  These hours could be considered by the campus for comp time.

Upon completion of all academy requirements, participants will receive an Humble ISD Certificate.
