Software Approval Process

The purpose of the Software Approval Process is to ensure that software purchased by campuses and departments (whether by purchase, grant, or donation):

  • Is in line with teaching and learning goals of the District
  • Meets or exceeds purchasing standards for quality and value
  • Is compatible with existing and planned technologies

Step One: Search the Approved Software List to see if the title is already on the list.

Tips for searching the Approved Software Database: Although you can search multiple criteria by using the drop down arrows for each topic, try to limit your search to one area. Be careful selecting multiple items because it may not have each criteria listed in the database. Also be aware that there is a "Next" option if the search returns more than 25 titles.

Search the Approved Software List

If the software is not on the list go to Step Two.

Step Two:Click the following SOFTWARE REQUEST FORM to download the request form.

Step Three: Complete the Software Request Form and forward to the appropriate
Coordinator or Administrative Department Head. (see list below)

Step Four:
Coordinator or Administrative Department Head will arrange for the purchase of the software to preview. (A regular version, not a demo, must be evaluated). Coordinator creates a preview committee with representation from three different campuses and Special Education personnel to evaluate the software. The EVALUATION FORM must be completed by three different campuses.


Step Five:
Coordinator or Administrative Department Head will
APPROVE/DISAPPROVE and all paperwork is forwarded to Instructional Technology. Once approved, the software is added to the Approved Software List.
