Campus Instructional Technology Academy
Purpose: The Campus Instructional Technology Academy is designed to prepare campus representatives to create a supportive environment for student use of technology to enhance learning. Audience: The intended audience is any teacher, instructional coach, or media specialist interested in developing a working knowledge of technology tools and integration strategies for creating a student-centered, technology-rich classroom. Overview: This program will consist of six face-to-face meetings and a portfolio of assignments aimed at developing a working knowledge of instructional applications and integration strategies. Face-to-Face Instruction: All face-to-face classes will be held from 4:30-7:30 p.m. at the Instructional Support Center, 4810 Magnolia Cove, Kingwood TX 77345. Implementation Planning: In addition, participants will be required to plan for the implementation of new technologies in their classrooms. This planning will be in the form of lesson plans that use the technologies discussed in the academy and will be completed between the face-to-face sessions. Participants will also be required to present a portfolio of all lessons at the end of the academy. Incentives:
· Each campus that sends a representative will receive an InterWrite Mobi interactive tablet ( http://www.einstruction.com/products/interactive_teaching/mobi/index.html ) for classroom use. The intention is that the Mobi will belong to the academy graduate until he/she leaves the district or moves to a position at another campus or level. · Each participant will receive 18 hours of CPU credit for the face-to-face sessions that could be considered by the campus for comp time. In addition, participants will earn 22 hours of CPU credit for the required implementation planning and portfolio development. Credit is assigned at the end of the Academy and is contingent upon completion of all sessions and all assignments. The hours will count for the following school year. · Upon completion of all academy requirements, participants will receive an Humble ISD Certificate. |
