Can you find time to help an abused child? A workshop will be held to clean, repair and brush the stuffed animals KHS student Emily Gentry recently collected in an effort to achieve her Girl Scout Gold Award. Only middle and high schoolers can participate in this event which was organized to make these items look new when they are distributed to children at The Door shelter. Please join us Saturday, November 28th from 9 to Noon at St. Martha's Catholic Church. This is a great way to earn service hours and help make a child's life brighter!

The Freshman White team ended their 2009 campaign with a highly entertaining win over Atascocita. After finding themselves down 28-0 at halftime, the White Team demonstrated the true heart of a Mustang by turning in 5 touchdowns to bring the final score to 35-34, Mustangs. Outstanding win to end a great season. Good job Mustangs!!!!

The NJROTC traveled to Richmond Texas last Saturday to compete in their first ever ROTC drill competition. There were 35 schools competing from Units throughout Texas and Louisiana including the National Champion JROTC unit from Corpus Christi. The Color Guard finished 17th and was lead by Cadet Executive Officer Scott Bauman. The Armed Drill team was lead by Cadet Ensign Romero and Basic Drill was lead by Cadet Cesarek. The PT Team was lead by Cadet Ensign Craniotis. As a unit we finished 25th
overall. Our next competition will be the Challenger Seven Orienteering Team in December.

Thursday night at 7:00 be sure to come to the KHS choir Kabaret featuring performances by the Madrigals and the official rock band of the KHS choir, "seventh hour". This show features a wide variety of popular music performed by some of the most talented kids in the school. Performances are held in the choir room. Well, everyone who sells ten cards before October 16th will be included in a drawing to win one of the following prizes: the Grand prize is a Flat panel TV/Monitor, second prize is your choice of an Xbox 360, Wii or PS3 game console and third prize is a Dell Inspiron Mini 10 net-book/laptop. Starting Monday, October 5th through the 16th, there will be a used stuffed animal drive to benefit Emilie Gentry's Girl Scout Gold Award Project. The donated stuffed animals will be given to abused children at The Door for Christmas. Please donate the lightly used stuffed animals and dolls you may have lying around the house to the donation boxes at both entrances. Thank You!.

The Mustang Freshman 9th Grade "A" team defeated Eisenhower 21-20 last night to start off district play 1-0. Michael Swayne, Cade Harrington, Mason Liodice (LO-I-DI-CHI) all were contributors to an outstanding offensive performance. The defense held Eisenhower out of the end zone in the final minutes to preserve the victory. Great defensive performance were turned in by James Steptoe, Joey Dill, Josh Friar, and Hector Sandoval. The Mustangs travel to Aldine in two weeks to play MacArthur.

Congratulations to Neil Grigg for his outstanding achievement in debate. This weekend at the Grapevine Debate Classic Neil was the recipient of the Jonathan Brody Service to Debate Award. This $500 scholarship award is given to a HS Senior debater who is competing in the Grapevine Classic and exhibits an Extraordinary Commitment to Debate, Perseverance and Outstanding Assistance to others in the activity. Neil was a quarter finalist and 10th overall speaker at the Grapevine Debate Classic. |

Tickets for Thursday night's Varsity football game against Klein will be on sale during all lunches on Thursday. Adults are $5.00 and students are $3.00 when bought at KHS. At the gate, all tickets are $6.00. Checks should be made out to Humble ISD Athletics.

Varsity football takes on the Oilers of Pearland this Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in Reliant Stadium. To kick off the fall sports schedule come to the Pep Rally, 7 p.m. Friday night here at KHS!
