What to do if my student is absent
Please call in anytime your student is absent. If you know they will be absent for several days, you do not have to call each day.
When leaving a message on voice mail, please:
Also, please send a note (parent, doctor, court, etc.) when they return. We must have written documentation for all excused absences. Notes need to be turned in within two school days of their return. (See procedures to enter/return to campus below.)
ANY STUDENTS THAT LEAVE OR ARRIVE DURING THE SCHOOL DAY MUST SIGN OUT/IN AT THE ATTENDANCE OFFICE
Procedures to leave campus during the school day
1. If a student needs to leave campus during the day, they should bring a note from their parent/guardian with the following information:
Date - Student Name - Student ID# - Time for the student to be released - Reason for checking out - and a Phone Number where the parent can be reached to verify the note.
This note needs to be taken to the student's house secretary before school. The house secretary will call the parent to confirm, once confirmed the check-out pass will be written. The student should return to the secretary between classes to pick up their check-out pass. They should present the check-out pass to their teacher when it is time to leave, proceed to the Attendance Office and sign their self out.
2. If a parent calls the House Principal's office during the day requesting a check-out pass, the check-out pass will be sent to the student. The student should present the check-out pass to their teacher when it is time to leave, proceed to the Attendance Office and sign their self out. Please note: all check out requests need to be done before 2:15 pm.
3. If a parent calls the Attendance office during the day requesting a check-out pass, the check out pass will be sent to the student. The student should present the check-out pass to their teacher when it is time to leave, proceed to the Attendance Office where they will meet the person picking them up. (The person must be listed on the Attendance Release Information form and present a Picture ID). Please note: all check out requests need to be done before 2:15 pm.
4. A Parent/Guardian or person listed on the student's Attendance Release Information form can come to the Attendance Office (located in the front of the school in the rotunda area-immediately to the right as you enter the school.) and sign their student out. The check-out pass will then be delivered to the student in their classroom. Reminders: You must have valid picture ID. No check-outs initiated after 2:15 pm.
5. The student must submit their check-out pass to the teacher whose class the student is leaving. A STUDENT WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO LEAVE ANY CLASSROOM WITHOUT THIS CHECK-OUT PASS.
6. If a student is ill, the student should go to the CLINIC with a Clinic Pass from their teacher. If it is determined the student needs to go home, the nurse will then call the parents to obtain permission to write a check-out note for the student. Student should present the nurse's check-out note at the Attendance Office to sign out. A check-out pass will then be given to the student.
7. Regardless of which method a student obtains their check out pass, they must report to the ATTENDANCE OFFICE and sign the check-out log before they leave school.
8. Students must have their check-out pass TIME STAMPED BY THE ATTENDANCE OFFICE in order to be in the parking lot when leaving campus.
9. Please bring your check-out pass back to the Attendance Office along with your note (parent, doctor, college, court, etc.) when returning to school, whether it is the same day or the following day. Reminder: Notes are to be turned in within 2 days of returning to school.
10. These same procedures need to be followed even if the student is 18 or older.
ALL CHECK OUT PASSES MUST BE INITIATED/PRE-ARRANGED BEFORE 2:15 pm Walk-in or call-in check outs cannot be processed the last 30 minutes of the school day
ANYONE CHECKING A STUDENT OUT MUST BE ON THE STUDENT'S ATTENDANCE RELEASE INFORMATION FORM AND PRESENT A VALID PICTURE ID
Only Parents/Guardians can update/submit the Attendance Release Information Form (Green Form) during the school year. It must be done in person at the Attendance Office. Parent/Guardian must present a valid picture ID.
Please allow plenty of time to check-out your student. Certain times of the day and circumstances may require additional lead time to process student check outs. (during lunch, between class periods, room changes, such as class meeting in library, computer lab, etc.)
