Electronic Devices

Students may not display or use a cell phone or other electronic communications device during the school day. Students are required to turn off cell phones and keep them concealed.

Teachers and principals will confiscate cell phones if they ring, are displayed or used. Parents can claim the phone from the Humble ISD Police Department after paying a $15 fee..

District officials know some parents want their child to have a cell phone for reasons of safety or convenience. This rule does not prohibit students from keeping cell phones in their purses, backpack or cars. The rule forbids students from getting out their cell phones or using them during the school day..

Teachers work hard to keep students focused on school," Karen Collier, Executive Director for Public Information, said. "Cell phones can be a big distraction. That is why their use is inappropriate at school..

In case of emergency, parents should call the school office. Students may use office phones to call their parents.
