Atascocita High School Latin Club

Nos, socii sodalitatis Latinæ Atascocitæ Scholæ Superioris, ob instituendum mundum antiquis doctum, nos ipsos erudimus de omnibus Romanis Græcisque, atque constituimus efficere quodquod necesse ut populi orbis terrarum Occidentum cognoscant suam originem, hoc enim parit humanitatem plus perspicacem illustratamque.

We, the members of the Atascocita High School Latin Club, in order to establish a world learned of the classics, educate ourselves of all things Roman and Greek and resolve to do whatever necessary for the peoples of the Western world to be aware of their origin, for this brings forth a civilization more perceptive and enlightened.

Veni, Vidi, Vici

On April 12-13, the Atascocita High School Latin Club traveled to Marcus High School in Dallas Texas, to compete and show their skills in the Texas State Junior Classical League Convention. Over 2500 Latin students competed. The competitions ranged from academic tests to ancient siege weapon demonstrations, costume designs to dramatic interpretations. Students are carefully judged and their test scores rigorously calculated to their respective Latin class level. Placing on a state level in any event in which these students entered, is an honor and a privilege worth celebrating. The points are then accumulated from these tests and events into a larger competition, where the students’ achievements no longer just stand for the individual, but rather the entire school club. Keeping in account the number of students in each club, the clubs are then separated into divisions. Victorious

Atascocita Latin students truly did, come, see, and conquer, during the convention by achieving 2nd place sweepstakes in the Small Club Division, and proving themselves to be small but mighty.  AHS placed higher than 79 other schools. Among these students included the 1st place achievements of Sean Castleman in T-shirt design, Ian Knight in poster design, Chase Triebel in photography, and Miranda Jennings in costume design.
