As we finish the school year, remember to turn in your Deerbrook Mall receipts dated from August 15 to present. The deadline to turn in receipts is May 10. The top 3 schools will receive the largest prize awards and we are currently in 4th place.
There are several ways to turn in receipts: 1) drop off the original or a copy of the receipt at the MSC locker (located in the hallway by Sears at the mall) or the school's front office; 2) fill out a point pass at the mall or the school's front office; 3) email a copy of your receipt to Karen Gruenzner -- karen@timberspto.com

2013-14 PTO Board Elections
**ATTENTION PARENTS...Timbers PTO wants Y-O-U!! It's that time of the year again to elect PTO Board members.
* I want Timbers Elementary to be one of the best schools in Texas.
* I want my child to have a great school year - to learn and to have fun!
* I want to help decide how PTO fundraising moneys are spent.
* I want all of the students at Timbers to be successful.
If the above statements are true, then "help us help the school". Parent involvement is critical for a successful school, so volunteer as a PTO officer or a board member for 2013-2014. There are jobs that take no more than a couple hours a month, some that are seasonal and a few that require a routine commitment.
Dedicated teachers, staff and PARENTS help make Timbers Elementary a great school! Join us - it's rewarding, it's important, it's even fun!

Junior Achievement
Our school has a unique opportunity to participate in Junior Achievement programs focused on financial literacy, work-readinessand entrepreneurship. The curriculum is interactive and fun. The secret ingredient is YOU, an involved parent willing to share some time and life experiences.
Parent volunteers visit their child's classroom and deliver five 30 minute activities, one activity per visit. The day and time of visits can be scheduled to fit both the volunteer and the teacher's needs. Volunteers will be trained and all materials, lesson plans, and activities are provided.

Playground Shade
WE MADE SHADE!!
We are excited to share with you that due to your overwhelming generosity over the past couple of years,the PTO was able to purchase a shade to cover the newest playground structure! There were no outside donors,100% of the money raised ($17,000) was all from the support of our Timbers parents! We want to thank everyone who was involved in this process from the beginning: voting on purchasing the shade, volunteering for various events, selling or buying items during fundraisers…the list goes on and on. We are very proud of this accomplishment and hope you will take pride in what you are doing for Timbers Elementary. Please take the time to share this exciting news with your family and friends that helped make this possible. The shade will give our children some much needed protection from those hot Texas days!
We can’t make these improvements for our children without you. Make it a point this year to get involved and volunteer your time at the school. Our school is a much better place for our children because of our parent involvement. The school community is truly a partnership between the staff, parents, students and surrounding community. Come and join us!

Backpack Spirit Rings
$5 **NEW Item for the 2012-13 school year**
The students are going bananas over the new Spirit Monkey Program at Timbers! Many have earned spirit sticks from their teachers to add to their custom TE spirit ring. Keep up the good work students!
All Timbers students have the opportunity to earn Sprit Sticks from their teachers and principals to place on their "Timbers Backpack Spirit Ring". School Parties
Party money will enable your Room Parent to organize fun and safe seasonal parties for your child and his/her classmates. All money collected will pay for food, crafts, and games that will be enjoyed during class parties. Each grade will participate in 2-3 parties, which will be held during the last hour of the school day. Parents are encouraged to attend!

Spring Party -- Wednesday, March 27 (Pre-K - 2nd grade only)
5th grade End of Year Picnic/Graduation Celebration (5th grade only)
Parents are asked to contribute a one-time donation of $10 per child.
