The Texas Bluebonnet Award (TBA) reading progam was established in 1979 to encourage Texas children to read more books, explore a variety of current books, develop powers of discrimination, and identify their favorite books. When students read 5 or more books (and pass the Reading Counts test) from the current Bluebonnet list, they will attend the Bluebonnet Voting Party!

The awards given for this program include:

5 Bluebonnet books = attend Bluebonnet voting party and receive a Bluebonnet pencil
10 Bluebonnet books = all of the above and certificate for a free lunch
15 Bluebonnet books = all of the above and receive a paperback copy of your favorite Bluebonnet book
20 Bluebonnet books = all of the above and a gift certificate to Barnes & Noble
