Humble ISD has broken ground on a new school.
The 27th elementary school is being built in Sunset Ridge near Beltway 8. The school, designed for 960 students, opens in August 2013. Participating in the ground breaking ceremony were (from left) Danny Struzick and Buddy Ceasar from Gamma Construction; Wayne Bryant and Rick Blan from PBK; Robert Sitton, Humble ISD Board of Trustees; Martha Buckner, Humble ISD Assistant Superintendent for Support Services; Charles Cunningham, Humble ISD Board of Trustees Vice President; and Dr. Guy Sconzo, Humble ISD Superintedent.

12 Girls at River Pines Elementary have joined in Girls on the Run, a 12-week character-building through running program that teaches specific and well-defined social & personal skills. It culminates in a non-competitive 5K event which gives each girl a chance to shine & a sense of accomplishment. All are invited to join in the run. Register for the run here.
KPHS Band concert will feature Congressman Ted PoeCongressman Ted Poe will be featured in a world premiere composition by Texas composer Jason Nitsch at the Kingwood Park High School Spring Band Concert on Friday, May 18. AHS Orchestra to perform at international conference
The Atascocita High School Chamber Strings will perform at the 66th Annual Midwest Clinic, an International music conference in Chicago, Illinois. It hosts over 16,000 participants from 50 states & 30 countries to raise standards of music education, develop new teaching techniques, and hold clinics, lectures & performances. SCHS takes State, National titles in Journalism
Summer Creek’s Odyssey newspaper’s coverage of last year’s state budget cuts earned the 2012 state title for in-depth team reporting. The program, in just its third year in Humble ISD, is gaining state and national attention with the work of its student journalists.
