Hello, my name is Karen Hilal Livingston. I have taught at the CLC for 7 years. I am the ESL coordinator for the CLC. I also teach Credit Recovery and foreign languages for the Discipline program. I love working with teenagers. My main purpose at my job is to encourage and empower the students to set goals that are constructive and helpful toward earning a high school diploma. I enjoy mentoring them to have positive and healthy self-esteems.
I was born in NYC, raised in Northern Michigan in a multi-cultural family. I earned my BS in Social Work from Ferris State University in Michigan in 1984. I was a Foster Care Licensure and Caseworker, then a director of a Big Brother/Big Sister office before moving to Texas in 1990. I earned my teaching certificate here at Lonestar Community College in 2004. I married my high school sweetheart and together we have three beautiful children and a daughter-in-law. We were just blessed with our first grandbaby. One son graduated from HHS, and graduated from University of Texas in 2006. Another son graduated from AHS and is attending Texas State University. My daughter will graduate from AHS in 2012. I love to read, crochet and SKYPE with family all over the world. |
